About The Event

Spring Cycle is one of the most anticipated cycling events in NSW, attracting thousands of participants each year. This event not only promotes bike riding as a healthy and sustainable mode of transportation but also serves as a significant advocacy platform for better bicycle infrastructure and policies.

The first Spring Cycle was held in the early 1980s and has since grown to be one of the largest cycling events in Sydney. Initially, the Spring Cycle started as a small community ride, but it has now evolved into a massive gathering that sees around thousands of cyclists of all ages and experiences riding together.

The Spring Cycle 2025 national charity partner is Lifeline. Lifeline provides all Australians experiencing emotional distress with access to 24hr crisis support and suicide prevention services.

Currently Lifeline is experiencing more calls than ever before. Lifeline exists to ensure that no one must face their toughest moments alone.

Funds raised via the Spring Cycle in 2025 will go towards supporting Lifeline’s crisis support and suicide prevention services across Australia.

Two great distances to register for in 2025.

The 10km City Ride is ideal for families and novice riders who want to experience the thrill of riding over the Harbour Bridge and past some of Sydney’s most iconic landmarks including the Sydney Opera House and the historic Rocks area.

The 50km Classic Ride is for those looking for an adventure, this route takes in the best of the 10km City Ride – over the spectacular Harbour Bridge, past the Opera House and the historic Rocks area, before exploring the diverse Inner West and venturing out to Sydney Olympic Park.

The 2025 Spring Cycle will take place on Sunday 12th October 2025.

The 2025 Spring Cycle is organised by Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney Ltd ACN 647 587 853 (Lifeline H2HS).

However, they are most welcome in a bay seat, trailer or connected via a tag-along or similar device. If your child will be riding with you in an ‘attached’ style, we welcome them to ride the Spring Cycle. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, as nominated at the time of registration.

The following age restrictions apply to the rides:

10km City Ride – Children can ride on a parent’s bicycle in this ride. Children riding independently on their own bicycle must be 8 years or older on the day of the ride.

50km Classic Ride – Children can ride on a parent’s bicycle in this ride. Children riding independently on their own bicycle must be 12 years or older on the day of the ride.

Yes, Spring Cycle is a family event for all. However, please make sure that your child is also a registered entrant in the event.

Age restrictions are due to safety recommendations and priorities from the NSW Police and government authorities. As a result of the recommendations, Spring Cycle has made the decision to set age limits for independent riding for each ride:

10km City Ride – 8 years and older

50km Classic Ride – 12 years and older

We understand there will be children and parents disappointed by these age restrictions, and many children are advanced riders for their young age, however this decision has been made to ensure the safety of all riders. We thank you for your understanding on this important issue and for supporting our commitment to everyone’s safety.

We’re excited to be working with Race Roster to deliver you an easy and secure registration site. Race Roster is the platform used by many sporting events. We’ve got your security in mind and know that Race Roster treats your information securely. Read more about their privacy assurances online here.

Adaptive cycling is permitted in Spring Cycle. The Spring Cycle is the first recreation bike ride welcoming people of all abilities, giving everyone access to cycling, and pedalling the iconic event in the heart of Sydney.

Please see the adaptive cycling information on the Rider Info page for more information on how to register. https://springcycle.com.au/rider-info/

For the safety and comfort of all participants, we kindly request that you leave your pets at home. Due to the crowds, fast moving bicycles and varied terrain, we cannot guarantee the safety of your beloved animals. Additionally, we want riders and supporters to feel comfortable and focused.

We have decided not to operate the 105km ride this year and focus on the 50km Classic Ride & 10km City Ride as there are already a number of endurance rides getting back up and running around NSW. For our rebooted event we wanted to focus on being accessible to all, including family groups of all ages and those new to cycling who might be participating in their first cycling event. This includes giving us the opportunity to run an adaptive cycling wave to enable adults and children living with a disability to join in the fun!

We have decided not to operate the 16km ride this year and focus on the 50km Classic Ride & 10km City Ride. This is due to operational reasons as only a small number of riders participated in this ride in 2019 and it requires an additional start site.  For our rebooted event we needed to ensure the 2021 Spring Cycle runs smoothly and safely for all and having less sites enables us to manage each one more effectively.

Yes, on the day registration will be available for the 10km ride and the 50km ride. If you choose to register on the day, please arrive at least 1 hour before the start of your ride. However, we HIGHLY recommend that you register online before 5pm on the Friday. Riders who register before the cut-off date (tbc) will receive a discounted entry and will have their ride number and information posted out to them before Spring Cycle.

We’re excited to be working with Race Roster to deliver you an easy and secure registration site. Race Roster is the platform used by many sporting events. We’ve got your security in mind and know that Race Roster treats your information securely. Read more about their privacy assurances online here.

Yes, free public transport is available on event day. Participants will not need to hold a valid ticket but will be required to display their 2022 Spring Cycle rider number, and volunteers should present their official volunteer identification card to transport operators . For information on the types of transport available, and those that permit bicycles on board, please see our ‘Traffic and Transport’ page which is under Event Information.

Your Spring Cycle Ride Pack will have your ride number and rider wristband. The ride number to be displayed at the front of your bike and the wristband to be worn on the day of the event.

For participants who registered before 3rd October 2022, and who are Sydney-based, will receive their rider packs in the post before the event. If you are in this group but your rider pack does not arrive, do not fear as you will be able to pick up a replacement bib and wristband at the start site in St. Leonard’s Park, North Sydney.

Please note, participants who register after 3rd October 2022 or live outside Sydney will need to collect their rider packs at the start site on the day of the event.

ALL ONLINE REGISTRATIONS CLOSE 5pm on the Friday of event week.

All rider packs, for those registered before Monday 3rd October 2022, and who are Sydney-based, are now in the post.

If you registered after this date, live outside the Sydney area, or if for some reason it does not arrive by post, you can pick up your rider pack at the pre paid registration tent at the start site on the day of the ride.

Please bring a printed or electronic copy of your confirmation email. We recommend getting to the start site at least 30 mins prior to your start time.

Child Entry is available for all children under age 16 on event day. Unfortunately, children under 8 years old will not be allowed to ride in the Spring Cycle independently on their own bicycle. However they are most welcome in a bay seat, trailer or connected via a tag-along or similar device.

Unfortunately, all children riding in the Spring Cycle must be accompanied by a paying adult. Please see Spring Cycles  Terms and Conditions. (T&Cs tbc)

Any children under the age of 8 are not allowed to ride independently in Spring Cycle. If the rider is aged 16 years or younger on the day of the ride they must be accompanied by a Parent / Guardian, as nominated at the time of registration. Please see Ride Options for specific information.

CSM Sport and Entertainment has had to adjust the age restrictions due to safety priorities from the NSW Police and government authorities.

As a result of the recommendations, CSM Sport and Entertainment has made the decision to set age limits for independent riding for each ride:

10km City Ride – 8 years and older

50km Classic Ride – 12 years and older

The age restrictions only apply to participants riding independently, on their own bike, without any assistance by an adult. It does not apply to children who are positioned in a child seat on the back or front of an adult bike, are connected to your bike via a trailer, tag along or similar device. If your child will be riding with you in an ‘attached’ style, we welcome them to ride the Spring Cycle.

We understand there will be children and parents disappointed by these age restrictions, and many children are advanced riders for their young age, however this decision has been made to ensure the safety of all riders.

While CSM Sport and Entertainment would love to provide a ride enabling younger riders the freedom and thrill of riding independently over the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Spring Cycle, we have had to take the recommendations of the NSW Police and Government authorities to obtain the necessary approvals to successfully hold the event.

We thank you for your understanding on this important issue and for supporting our commitment to everyone’s safety.

Spring Cycle welcomes you to ride with a group of friends, colleagues or family. Just make sure everyone respects social distancing at all times (keep a safe distance of 1.5m between you and other visitors) and be registered for the ride.

The ride is not a race, but a celebration of cycling. The most important part is to come out and enjoy the ride.

We provide a Sweep Bus which follows each ride and can pick you up if you can’t manage to ride any further. The Sweep Bus will take you to the nearest public transport or major site so that you can make your way home from there or continue to the finish site.

You will need to carry at least one full water bottle (ideally two) to keep yourself hydrated. It is also recommended to carry some snacks with you. There are no rest stops along the 10km course, but there are water fountains you could stop at. There is a designated rest stop along the 50km ride where you can fill up your bottles and could purchase food.

There will be additional trains put on by Sydney Trains for the Spring Cycle 2022.  Free transport is permitted for volunteers and participants with their bicycles travelling to and from the event on Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink, Intercity services, Sydney Metro and Sydney Ferries on Sunday 16th October 2022.

However, please note riders and volunteers with bikes cannot access free transport on Sydney Light Rail Services. Please see our Traffic and Transport page which is under the event information tab for more details,

Spring Cycle participants are not covered by insurance by default. To ensure that you have Personal Accident and Public Liability cover, it is best to become a Bicycle NSW Member. Existing Bicycle NSW Members will be covered by their membership and receive a discount off their Spring Cycle entry fee.

All routes use sealed roads and cycleways. Riders use mountain bikes, road bikes, hybrids, tandems, unicycles, recumbents – you name it! It is a ride for everyone so any bike will do! Please check our safety recommendations to be sure your bike is up to par! See our Event Terms & Conditions for exact details. (T&Cs tbc)
